Tyesn enjoys solving problems. She thinks critically about how to match puzzle pieces for a perfect fit and shares that “aha!” moment with others, which directly translates to her love of all things POP. Tyesn feels she will never be bored with a POP career because many positions within the profession offer a lively balance of hands-on clinic hours, quiet time in the lab, and interpersonal connections.
Tyesn became interested in POP after an onsite visit to her mother’s physical rehabilitation office. She took one look at the back of the shop during her visit and felt inspired to learn more. While studying kinesiology at the University of Maryland, Tyesn signed up to take biomechanics courses to prepare for graduate school and pursued a shadowing opportunity at Baylor College of Medicine. Now a second-year master’s student at Alabama State University, Tyesn serves as a cohort leader for her classmates, a skill first honed as a spin instructor. She loves what she’s learning and hopes to inspire others in her program to feel the same.
