Trevor Ballard

After working for years as an auto mechanic, Trevor decided to go back to school to study kinesiology, with a plan to pursue a career in physical therapy. While he enjoyed his time in physical therapy, he missed the hands-on, engineering aspects of his mechanic days.

One day, a patient who wore a prosthesis came into the physical therapy clinic where Trevor was interning, and everything clicked. He was fascinated by the craftsmanship of the patient’s prosthesis device and excited by the chance to blend his budding health care knowledge with his background in mechanics. Trevor started shadowing at a nearby POP clinic, where he dove into learning about the technical aspects of the profession and eventually was hired as an assistant.

Now, Trevor is pursuing his master’s in prosthetics and orthotics at Northwestern University. After graduation, Trevor plans to move back to his home state of Oklahoma with his wife and young son, where he will complete his residency at a clinic not far from the small town where he grew up. He looks forward to being near his family, giving back to his community and continuing to grow as a POP professional.

No two days in POP are the same. That’s what I love about the profession.
