Todd Clay

Todd’s path to POP began after he injured his knee while playing football in college, requiring several surgeries, physical therapy and a custom knee brace. When Todd visited a POP clinic to be measured for his knee brace, he met a prosthetist orthotist and asked him to explain the profession. As he measured, shaped and fit Todd’s knee brace, he explained that the POP profession combines science, engineering and patient care.

Interested in learning more, Todd spent a summer shadowing at the POP clinic and taking in as much as he could. Realizing this was the path for him, Todd pivoted his major from pre-law to biology and biomechanics and completed his orthotics and prosthetics certificate program at the University of Texas Southwestern.

Todd has now been working in the POP profession for over 30 years. He manages a POP clinic in Birmingham, Alabama and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of POP professionals. One of Todd’s favorite parts of the job is celebrating victories with patients, whether it’s one step or one hundred steps.
