Sometimes, finding your professional calling can happen out of nowhere. Stefany studied biological engineering at Louisiana State University, thinking she may become a physical therapist or engineer. It was an ordinary school day when her aha moment happened. She attended a guest lecture with a POP professional, and it changed her career path.
Stefany reached out to a local prosthetist and coordinated a shadowing experience at their clinic. She observed how POP professionals help patients address their individual needs, build custom devices and seamlessly blend healthcare and engineering skills. After her shadowing day, she excitedly told her parents that a career in POP was her calling.
Stefany earned her master of science (orthotics and prosthetics) from Baylor College of Medicine and is currently completing her prosthetic residency at multiple locations across the country. She loves collaborating with her fellow POP professionals and helping patients of all ages achieve their goals.
