After witnessing a family member experience mobility loss, Sarah knew she wanted to help people navigate similar challenges. Thanks to her high school’s technology courses and early career exploration program, Sarah soon discovered POP: a career that combined her love for art and engineering and making a difference in people’s everyday lives. It was a perfect fit.
While studying biomechanical engineering at Washington and Lee University, Sarah also sought out diverse internship and volunteer experiences in POP. She interned at a medical technology company in Vienna, Austria, to expand her engineering skills; volunteered with the Range of Motion Project in Ecuador to connect underserved populations with prosthetic care; and shadowed at a clinic near her hometown in New Hampshire.
Sarah is currently completing her master’s in prosthetics and orthotics at the University of Pittsburgh and hopes to start her career working with pediatric patients. She is passionate about promoting equal access and opportunity to mobility support and care, and plans to stay active with nonprofits and advocacy organizations.
