Salvador Gonzalez

Sal is a second-year student at UT Southwestern who describes the POP profession as attractive and fun. Growing up with a family member with multiple sclerosis, Sal was always curious about prosthetics and orthotics and the process involved in making the devices. He pursued a biomedical engineering degree and worked at a nonprofit prior to applying to the UTSW O&P master’s program. Sal appreciates that POP students get to work with patients as part of the education process and continues to find new inspirations daily.

I like that this profession mixes healthcare with a skilled trade, it’s very cool to be able to focus on the artistic aspect.
