Rachel Russ

Rachel is a first-year student at the University of Pittsburgh’s prosthetics and orthotics master’s program. She knew she was interested in healthcare, but she couldn’t picture herself as a nurse or clinician. Instead, she felt drawn to exploring a career that would allow her to help as many people as possible using her strengths in engineering and mathematics.

Rachel remembers struggling to find a clear pathway to POP during her undergraduate years. As a POP Ambassador, she hopes to provide students with the guidance and information she wishes she had access to earlier in her journey. She credits her graduate advisor and the prosthetics clinic team she worked with for inspiring her to become a certified prosthetist orthotist.

Rachel loves her courses, especially her lab experiences, and looks forward to applying what she has learned to her future patients.
