Megan Caufield

Megan grew up with four older siblings and, inspired by their careers, always knew she wanted to follow a similar path and make a difference in people’s lives. Determined to carve out her own niche, she pursued a unique direction that combined her love of math and science with her passion for healthcare—ultimately leading her to dive deep into orthotics and prosthetics.

Megan studied engineering as an undergraduate and discovered POP her sophomore year when she was inspired by a guest speaker who discussed how engineering could be applied to prosthetics. From there, Megan dove into the POP world to learn as much as possible. For an undergraduate project, Megan worked on designing an adjustable prosthetic device for children that could expand as a child grew.

Today, Megan is pursuing her master’s in orthotics and prosthetics at the University of Pittsburgh. She enjoys the hands-on learning experiences, especially when she gets to work with patient models, learn their stories and enable them to reach their goals. Megan hopes to one day work for the VA!
