Madalynn’s sister was born without her left arm, and Madalynn grew up going with her to medical appointments and prosthetic device fittings. Inspired by the care and compassion her sister’s POP team provided, Madalynn decided to explore various patient care professions.
She pursued her undergraduate degree in exercise science and nonprofit studies at Auburn University with plans to become a physical therapist. One day, the physical therapist she was shadowing recommended she check out a POP clinic. After seeing POP professionals’ close relationships with their patients, like with her sister’s care team, she knew POP was the path for her.
Madalynn is pursuing her master’s in orthotics and prosthetics at the University of Pittsburgh. She enjoys the hands-on nature of the profession and loves working with kids. She dreams of helping people like her sister not only gain their mobility back but excel. She also dreams of helping underserved population around the world.
