Kelsey Hannifin

Kelsey always thought she would become a lab-coat-wearing medical researcher. But while working in her college’s lab, she found the experience lacked the interpersonal and engineering interactions she craved. So, she pivoted. She contacted different medical clinics to coordinate shadowing days, eventually discovering a local POP clinic.

On her first shadowing day, she observed an individual’s first-ever prosthetic device fitting. That career-defining moment showed Kelsey how POP offers limitless opportunities to interact with patients and collaborate with other care providers. Plus, she gets to employ her engineering skills to help patients restore their independence. A perfect and rewarding fit for Kelsey.  Kelsey earned her master’s in orthotics and prosthetics from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and is now working as a prosthetic resident in St. Louis, Missouri. She enjoys caring for patients of all ages and hopes to work in a hospital setting.
