Caroline’s internship at Gainesville Prosthetics in Florida gave her a front row seat into the POP profession. While observing the profession up close, she helped assemble demo prostheses and honed her skiving ability, which involves shaving or tapering materials to ensure a comfortable fit. Working alongside seasoned professionals ignited her passion for creating transtibial, or below-the-knee devices, to improve patients’ range of motion.
The experience inspired Caroline to pursue her master’s degree in prosthetics and orthotics at Kennesaw State University. She enjoys how the program balances classroom coursework with hands-on lab work alongside peers. She is excited to continue refining her fabrication and patient-care skills.
Caroline looks forward to becoming a certified prosthetist orthotist, In her free time, she volunteers to raise awareness of POP with the Ottobock Running Clinic and So EveryBODY Can Move. She also works with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to fit stuffed animals with orthotic braces, providing comfort to children with scoliosis. She hopes to specialize in pediatrics to help children move, play and explore as they grow.
