From an early age, Cara felt connected to stories and people in POP. Her favorite book as a fourth grader told the story of a young amputee, and during her college years, Cara worked for a family with a member who was affected with an upper extremity limb deficiency. Cara felt so inspired by these individuals’ resilience and resolve to live their lives to the fullest that she opted to forgo medical school for mechanical engineering and pursued volunteer experiences that led her to begin working as a prosthetic assistant.
Having spent years educating young POP students across the country and starting a prosthetics related video analysis company, she now runs Gainesville Prosthetics with her husband, fellow POP professional Paul Prusakowski. Cara instills pride in her interns and students and she feels privileged to be able to help people regain their independence and mobility.
