Brendan always loved movement, whether through sports or in nature. Growing up with a learning disability, he relied on creative strategies to enhance his academic success. He learned from a young age about the profound benefits that physical activity and hands-on engagement can provide. What started as an academic necessity evolved into a passion for building functional art using wood, metal, and ski-related materials. Before starting graduate school at the University of Washington, he worked in the Physical Therapy Department at Seattle Children’s Hospital. His love for movement, working with his hands, and a desire to help others ultimately led him to pursue a career in orthotics and prosthetics. Brendan appreciates various aspects of his field, particularly the intersection of function and fashion in designing orthotic and prosthetic interventions.
In his free time, you can find Brendan skiing, hiking, and camping in the Cascade Mountain Range. When in the city, he taps into his creativity by transforming discarded materials into distinctive, functional art pieces.
