Breanna Joy Poteat

Growing up in a family of engineers, Breanna always had an interest in math and science, but she never knew how to combine that with her love of helping others into a career. It wasn’t until an orthotics and prosthetics master’s student from Northwestern University visited her school and gave a presentation on POP that she realized it was exactly what she was looking for. Seeing the physical test sockets and hearing the patient stories, Breanna could see herself as a POP professional helping others recover and regain their mobility.

Breanna finished her master’s in prosthetics and orthotics at Northwestern University and is now pursuing her dual residency with Össur Patient Care at the SRT National Prosthetics Center. After she completes her program, Breanna wants to help as many people as she can, including people with diabetes, veterans, pediatric patients and underserved communities, regain their mobility.

Working in POP and being able to make lasting change in a patient’s life is one of the most empowering feelings I’ve ever felt.
