Allyson is in her first year of a master’s program in prosthetics and orthotics at the University of Pittsburgh. Starting in middle school, she knew she wanted to work with medical devices and took steps to learn as much as possible. Allyson initially considered diving deeper into robotics by pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, but a summer prosthetics internship introduced her to a more patient-centered environment that inspired her to pursue a POP career.
Allyson is excited to become a POP Ambassador because she knew from an early age that she wanted to pursue prosthetics, but didn’t learn about the profession or the steps she should take until she was well into another degree program. She wants to provide information and support to potential POP students and professionals early on in their education journeys. After graduation, she hopes to specialize in pediatrics.
