Kirsten Lucy

Kirsten was drawn to POP after reading about a dancer who, after losing her leg, returned to the sport she loved with the help of a prosthetic device. This sparked Kirsten’s early interest in POP and inspired her to study biomedical engineering.

Kirsten’s commitment to POP stems from her belief that mobility is fundamental to building connections with others. She volunteered with the Helping Hand Project, where she helped fit a young girl with her first 3D-printed prosthetic hand. The experience was deeply moving and showed her how receiving a device can directly impact someone's quality of life. Kirsten is also involved in advocacy efforts to expand access to mobility care and ensure more individuals have the devices they need.

She looks forward to completing her clinical residency at Baylor College of Medicine and starting her career as a certified prosthetist orthotist, helping adults and children reach their goals.
