Jaclyn Bergman

Jaclyn studied at a magnet high school specializing in biomedical studies. Her coursework reinforced her passion for math and healthcare, but she was unsure which career path to pursue. So, she turned to someone her family knew well and trusted deeply: her sibling's POP clinician.

Jaclyn’s sibling lives with scoliosis and wears an orthotic brace to prevent further curving of their spine. Her sibling’s orthotist encouraged Jaclyn to explore a career in POP by shadowing professionals and attending hospital support groups, alongside them, to learn more about POP. This guidance helped Jaclyn decide on a biomedical engineering major and prompted her to pursue a master’s in prosthetics-orthotics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Now a certified orthotist, and soon-to-be certified prosthetist, Jaclyn looks forward to working with pediatric patients in the future to help them move with confidence.
